Can I trade news?

High-impact news events can cause sharp price movements, increased volatility, and slippage. While news trading is generally permitted, specific restrictions apply to maintain fair and consistent trading conditions for all participants.

Restrictions:

  • No new positions may be opened within 5 minutes before or 5 minutes after a high-impact news event.
  • Closing positions within 5 minutes before or 5 minutes after a high-impact news event is also not permitted.
  • Bracket strategies (placing both BUY STOP and SELL STOP orders around a news event) remain strictly prohibited.
  • Holding existing trades during the news event is permitted, provided they are not opened or closed within the restricted 5-minute window before or after the event.

Example:
For a U.S. CPI announcement at 15:30 (GMT+2), no positions may be opened or closed between 15:25 – 15:35.

Important Note:
Profits generated from trades that violate these timing restrictions will be removed and will not count toward your target. Any losses incurred from such trades will remain the trader’s responsibility and will count toward drawdown calculations.
